The all-rounder Washington Sundar is confident of India’s win in the third test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s.
He expressed his confidence in his team’s ability to chase down the 193-run target and clinch the lead in the five-match series. Despite India being in a precarious position at 58 at 4 at stumps on Day 04, Washington Sundar remains optimistic, predicting the win may ‘probably just after lunch.’
Speaking to the media, Sundar said, “Definitely India [are] winning tomorrow, probably in the first session. Probably just after lunch.”
India were troubled by England’s pace attack on Day 04, losing top-order batters Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill and middle-order batters Karun Nair and Akash Deep, with only 58 runs in the score card.
However, KL Rahul stood firm with 33 not out, giving the visitors hope to chase down the 193-run target in the five-match series.

“We want so many things the way we expect it to be, but yes, we’ll take it any day. We’ll really come out positive tomorrow. We’ve got some solid batsmen in the dressing room. It’s exciting in every way, you know, winning a Test at Lord’s is going to be amazing. So, I think we’re sitting pretty,” said Washington Sundar.
Sundar delivered one of his best performance outside India, taking 4 wickets for just 22 runs in 12.1 overs.
His spell dismantled England’s middle and lower order, removing key batters including Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Jamie Smith. England eventually collapsed for 192 runs in the second innings.
“Definitely one of the best days with the ball for me, especially outside of India. But yes, I definitely had some solid plans coming into this Test match and really wanted to execute them both in the first and second innings,” he explained.
With India still needed 135 runs and six wickets in hands, the match is heading to the final day. If India manages to pull off the chase, it will be one of their most memorable Test wins at Lord’s adding to their 2021 triumph at the same venue.
