England batter Ben Duckett took a dig at India captain Shubman Gill on day 04 of the third test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Lord’s.

The incident took place moments before the latter’s dismissal, which was caught on the stump mic. Duckett was heard saying, “600 runs and he’s done for the series.”

The jibe proved to be working as Shubman Gill got dismissed for just 6 in India’s second innings, which put pressure on visitors in their pursuit of chasing 193-run target.

The exchange has been started on day three, where Shubman Gill had engaged in a heated moment with Duckett sarcastically clapping and gesturing towards the pavilion during a break in play as Zak Crawley was being beaten by Jasprit Bumrah.

The incident set the tone for a dramatic incident at the Home of Cricket. Shubman Gill was named as the captain of the India’s test side with a stunning 147 runs on debut, before lighting up fireworks in Edgbaston with scores of 269 and 161 earning him the Player of the Match award and helping India to a thumping 336-run victory.

However, Gill managed to score only 16 runs in the first innings and was dismissed by Brydon Carse in the second innings, as India slipped to last six wickets for 58 runs at stumps on day 04.

Earlier on the day, India’s bowlers had put the side to commanding position, as Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Washington Sundar shone with impressive spells.

With Sundar picked four decisive wickets, Bumrah finished the cleaning up tail. However, England hit back hard with the ball, Jofra Archer removed Yashasvi Jaiswal with a sharp short ball, and trapped Karun Nair.

After Gill’s dismissal, Stokes deliveried the final blow of the day, dismissing Akash Deep with the last ball leaving India in trouble.

KL Rahul remains unbeaten on 33 and is anticipated to make a huge role along with Rishabh Pant. The pair has shared 141-run partnership in the first innings and will need to replicate that effort on what has become a tricky surface.

The final day at Lord’s promises a thrilling conclusion whether India will secure a win and secure a lead in the five match series.
