Sehwag Warns CSK on Rachin Ravindra’s Exclusion in Playing 11 against Lucknow

Former Indian Cricketer Virender Sehwag was left disappointed by CSK’s move to exclude Rachin Ravindra from the Playing 11 during the IPL 2024 match against Lucknow Super Giants.

CSK has been one of the most successful teams as they won five titles in IPL history. Under the leadership of MS Dhoni, the team stuck to the original playing 11 which was one of the primary reasons for the team’s success in the IPL.

It was proved that Shane Watson was backed despite his poor run in the campaign during the IPL 2019 season. He was never dropped from playing 11 due to which he smashed 59 runs in 80 balls helping the side to win the title in the season.

However, Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag feels that under Ruturaj Gaikwad‘s captaincy, CSK has dropped from playing 11 in the match against Lucknow Super Giants.

While speaking in the media, Sehwag highlighted the move of dropping Ravindra from the squad. “They aren’t playing bad, but this is the first time I have seen Chennai making constant changes. Gaikwad was opening, then Rahane was sent top of the order, now Gaikwad is back as an opener and today Rachin Ravindra has been given a break.”

“These are not good signs for CSK. Every time they have done that, they failed to make the playoffs. It’s not that Rachin batted so far, couple of his innings were good. Usually, CSK sticks with the players.”

“But first, they benched Daryl Mitchell, and now Rachin, it could be someone else in the next game. These are not good changes. And these are not tactical changes. I feel CSK look in a bit of haste in making these changes in the last few matches,” he said.

After having a positive start, CSK faced three defeats in home-away matches and secured 4th position in the IPL 2024 points table.

CSK is looking forward to securing a victory on the home ground as they lost to KL Rahul-led Lucknow Super Giants in the April 19 fixtures. With the home-ground advantage, Chennai is in the pursuit of crossing 200+ runs in Chennai Stadium.
