After having a solid start, UP Warriorz went on to score 150 runs in the WPL 2025 clash against Mumbai Indians on March 06.
After Mumbai decided to bowl first, UP Warriorz made a change in openers which proved to be working, but their middle-order collapse avoided high runs in the scoreboard.
Batting first, Georgia Voll and Grace Harris opened the innings for UP Warriorz while Shabnim Ismail opened the bowling attack. The Australia duo went on to score 50 in the powerplay.
With Hayley Matthews providing a crucial breakthrough for Mumbai dismissing Harris for 28 runs in the 8th over, Voll went on to slam her maiden WPL fifty.
However, Kiran Navgire was sent on duck by Amelia Kerr. With the dismissal of the Voll for 55 runs, UP Warriorz lost three wickets for 90 runs.
MI gained momentum in the match as the dismissed the middle order at regular interval. UP Warriorz went on to lose 6 wickets in the middle overs for 121 runs after finishing strongly in the powerplay.
UP lost the wickets of Grace Harris, Georgia Voll, Kiran Navgire, Vrinda Dinesh and Chinelle Henry.
Hayley Matthew picked her second wicket dismissing Shweta Sehrawat for duck while Parunika bagged the wicket of Uma Chetry for 1.
Bowling the last over, Amelia Kerr bagged the wickets of Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone to complete her five wicket haul.
UP Warriorz went on to score 150 runs losing 9 wickets in their 20 over innings. Deepti Sharma-led side are set to play their must-win game against MI Women to keep their playoff chances alive.
UP Warriorz has two wins out of six matches and secured last place while Mumbai has three wins in five matches and secured 3rd place in the WPL 2025 points table.
