The wk-batter Tim Seifert’s unbeaten knock during the 5th match of the Zimbabwe T20I Tri-Series has powered New Zealand’s seven-wicket victory against South Africa in July 22 at Harare.

By this win, the side extended the lead as unbeaten run in the T20I series. Tim Seifert’s explosive knock of 66 runs has helped the side to chase the 134-run target set by South Africa.

Earlier, Blackcaps’ bowlers’ Jacob Duffy, Adam Milne, and Mitchell Santner excelled to restrict Proteas for 134 runs.

Batting first, van der Dussen and Reeza Hendricks opened the innings while Jacob Duffy opened the bowling attack.

However the dismissals of Dussen (14) and Hermann (10) has left Proteas struggle with 34 runs by the end of seven over.

They were further troubled with the dismissals of Dewald Brevis and Lhuan-dre Pretorius for 13 and 1 by ORourke and Santner respectively.

With Simeland sent out on lbw for 11 runs, Hendricks went on to score 41 runs before being dismissed by Duffy.

With Linde’s contribution in the low order, the side went on to score 134 runs in their 20 over innings.

In the pursuit of chasing 135 runs, Devon Conway and Tim Seifert opened the innings while George Linde opened the bowling attack.

Despite the dismissals of Conway (19), Rachin Ravindra (6) and and Mark Champman (10) Tim Seifert went on to slam 66* runs off 48 deliveries which included 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Along with him Daryl Mitchell went on to post unbeaten 20 runs due to which the side completed the chase in the 16th over.

Tim Seifert was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking at the post match presentation, seifert said, “From a personal point of view, getting runs, it’s good. The guys are batting well and everyone are contributing.”

“The pitches here are quite similar, Zimbabwe have taller guys and South African guys are skiddy. Adapting to the conditions, one of those wickets where you never feel like you are in. On these wickets, you need to graft,” he concluded.

New Zeland will play their next match against Zimbabwe on July 24 at Harare.
