Tilak Varma went on to smash an unbeaten 69 runs, guiding India to claim their 9th Asia Cup title after defeating Pakistan in the Summit Clash played on September 28 at Dubai.

His resilient knock helped India clinch a 5-wicket victory in the Asia Cup 2025 finals, and the Men in Blue proved to be the most successful team in the Asia Cup tournament.

India has extended their dominance with 13 wins out of 16 games against Pakistan.

Batting first, Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman gave a solid start for Pakistan, scoring 84 runs for the first wicket. Despite the duo having scored only 45 runs in the power play,

Farhan went on to smash fifty on 35 deliveries and scored 57 runs before being dismissed by Varun Chakravarthy.

Kuldeep Yadav bagged the second wicket dismissing Saim Ayub for 14 runs. Wtih Haris’ dismissal for duck, Varun Chakravarthy bagged his second wicket (Fakhar Zaman for 46) in the innings.

Indian spinners dominated the middle overs and tore up Pakistan’s middle order with back to back wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah bagged the wickets of Mohammad Nawaz and Haris Rauf for 12 runs each. Meanwhile Shaheen Afridi and Faheem Ashraf were sent back to dugout with a duck by Kuldeep Yadav.

Despite a strong start, Pakistan’s middle order failure has put them under scrutiny as they got bowled out for 146 runs in the final over.

Kuldeep Yadav had four wicket haul while Axar Patel, Varun Chakravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah had two wickets each.

In the pursuit of chasing 147 runs, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Shaheen Afridi opened the bowling attack.

With Abhishek Sharma’s dismissal for 5 runs to Faheem Ashraf, Suryakumar Yadav lost his wicket to Afridi for 5 runs.

Gill’s dismissal for 12 runs has put India in trouble as they lost three wickets for 20 in the powerplay.

However, Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson stabilised the innings as India scored 36 runs in the powerplay.

With Sanju Samson’s dismissal for 24 runs, Shivam Dube joined Tilak Varma aiming to complete the chase.

Tilak Varma went on to smash his fifty in the last ball of the 16th over. Shivam Dube lost his wicket to Faheem Ashraf for 33 runs.

With Rinku Singh joining Tilak Varma at crease, the former finished up the game with a four and helped the side to clinch ultimate glory in the 2025 edition of the tournament.
