The T20I star Suryakumar Yadav had surgery for a sports Hernia which has worsened over time and required medical condition. This is the second surgery for the player in recent months, as he underwent surgery for his ankle injury.

He played two T20I matches in the South Africa tour of India but was sidelined for the T20I series against Afghanistan’s tour of India.

After the surgery, Suryakumar Yadav took X to thank all the supporters and fans. He also mentioned about his return in the post.

“I want to thank everyone for their concerns and well wishes for my health, and I am happy to tell you all that I will be back very soon.”

Suryakumar was named as the captain for the T20I series against South Africa as Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were absent from the squad. He scored 56 runs in the second T20I match on December 12 and smashed a century in 56 deliveries in the third T20I on December 14.

India won Afghanistan 3-0 in their last T20I series before the T20 World Cup in June in the USA and the West Indies. The final T20I match was the first T20I match that decided the victory after two super overs.

India will be playing a five-match test series against England starting next week. The first test will kickstart at 09:30 AM IST at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
