The Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming has discussed MS Dhoni’s role in pre-season preparations ahead of the IPL 2024.

Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024 season, CSK head coach Stephen has opened on MS Dhoni who has been spending time with young players in pre-season.

The fifty-year-old has been the coach of the CSK on various occasions. He led the CSK to titles in 2018, 2021 and 2023 seasons. He mentioned that CSK’s pre-season camp has gotten longer over the years.

“Given the age of some of the players and the amount of cricket they’re playing, our pre-season has extended over the last few years. So MS takes a very strong role there and he needs some volume, so he goes in early and the players just gravitate towards that,” said Fleming.

He continued that there are many benefits as youngsters spend time with the former India skipper during the pre-season.

“It enables young Indian players to reconnect, and then international players who’ve had commitments, they tend to come in a little bit later. The big benefits that our local Indian players get is, one, time to spend with MS Dhoni, and two, a chance to get back into the system,” said the former New Zealand skipper.

Stephen Fleming has been the head coach of CSk, Joburg Super Kings, and the Texas Super Kings in the IPL, SA20 league and MLC leagues. He has also served as a consultant for the Blackcaps during the T20 World Cup 2021 where the side reached the finals.

Recently, The former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has hinted about his new role via Facebook which created hype among CSK fans. This made he is set to play as an opener in IPL 2024 after Devon Conway was ruled out for the first half of the IPL 2024 due to injury.

But concerning Stephen’s statement, Dhoni could become head coach for CSK as Stephen Fleming is needed at the national side as Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is approaching. However, MS Dhoni’s joining CSK as head coach has not been confirmed by the franchise or the former skipper.

The 17th edition of the IPL season is set to commence on March 22. Players who are involved in the IPL 2024 season have almost joined the respective franchises for the pre-season camp.

As per the IPL 2024 schedule, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be playing in the first match of the campaign on March 22 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
