    Shreyas Iyer Suffers Another Finals Defeat in T20 Mumbai League

    Shreyas Iyer has endured back-to-back heartbreaks in the Finals. His side, SoBo Mumbai Falcons, lost the Mumbai T20 League 2025 finals. The Shreyas Iyer-led side went to suffered defeat, was outplayed by Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on June 12.

    This comes after the Iyer-led Punjab Kings lost to RCB in the IPL 2025 finals on June 03. A script unfolded in Mumbai as Iyer’s Falcons faltered under pressure. Chasing a modest target of 158, Siddesh Lad’s South Central side cruised home in 19.2 overs to lift the title.

    India’s ODI captain Rohit Sharma, who attended the final as the league’s ambassador was seen handing over the runner-up cheque to a visibly dejected Iyer after the game.

    “It’s pretty hectic. Especially when you lose, it runs in your mind a lot,” Shreyas Iyer admitted.

    The inspirational skipper urged his teammates to be proud of their campaign and takes positives from the highs and lows of the season.

    “Don’t want to pinpoint any particular incident. Overall, the boys were brilliant with their efforts. We lost just one game en route to the final. Just a one-off game where you can’t single out anyone – it’s basically backstabbing and I don’t enjoy that. We’ve learnt a lot.”

    “It’s pretty common to feel dejected after a final loss. It must hurt them. But when they come back next year, they’ll have that extra motivation and confidence. They should be proud of their effort,” he added.

    Bowling first, Mumbai South Central dismissed opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Ishan Mulchandani in the powerplay.

    Captain Shreyas Iyer who walked in at No.3, never get going. He hit a six and a boundary, but struggled for consistency at Wankhede Stadium.

    A solid knock from Mayuresh Tandel (50) and Harsh Aghav (45) has helped SoBo Mumbai Falcons posted 157 runs on the board. They added 85 runs in 49 balls for the fifth wicket.

    Vaibhav Mali picked two wickets in four overs. On the other hand, Siddesh Lad and his opening partner Sahil Bhagwanta Jadhav went on to score 32 runs in 2.5 overs.

    A fifty from Chinmay Sutar and a blistering 38 runs from Awais Naushad Khan ensured Mumbai South Central completed their chase in the last over and secured the title.
