The former Indian cricketer Sarandeep Singh has praised the test captain Shubman Gill for taking over the No. 4 spot in the batting order vacancy left by Virat Kohli.
Despite starting his captaincy era with two defeats and one win from three matches, his performance has been extraordinary.
So far in three matches of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Shubman Gill has scored three centuries, including a maiden double century and racked up 607 runs from six innings while averaging 101.17 at a strike rate of 71.83.
Sarandeep Singh says the young guns and the experience KL Rahul have stepped up to lead India’s under Gill’s leadership.
“Shubman Gill is performing well at No. 4, openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul are making runs, so this is a new step forward so since they are doing well, I believe we should back this team more,” he said.

“But I think it is time to move on for the team. They are doing extremely well under Shubman’s leadership” he added.
Sarandeep Singh feels that while the void left by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli is hard to be filled the time to move on from the two stalwarts is here.
Earlier, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their test retirements within days of each other.
However, the likes of Madan Lal and Yograj Singh feel that the duo should take retirement U-turns in wake of India’s performance in the ongoing tour of England where they are currently trailing 1-2 in the five match test series.
“Rohit and Kohli have served the team for many years and their positions are hard to fill but the Indian team is doing well,” said former cricketer.
England secured 2-1 lead in the five match series and India will be looking for a win in Manchester to draw level in the series.
The fourth test will be played between June 23 and 27 at Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Manchester.
