‘Game recognises game’ is a phrase used by many sports lovers and Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar lauded one of football’s greatest in Brazil’s Pele for doing the same.

“This is what sport is all about. Lovely to see this warm gesture from @pele, one of the greatest in the game. To recognise talent & celebrate @cristiano’s achievements, is a trait that is the hallmark of a true sportsman. Much respect and love for both of these geniuses of the world!,” Tendulkar wrote in his Instagram post.

The 36-year-old is now third in the list of most goals scored behind Brazil’s Romario (772) and Austria’s Josef Bican (805+). Ronaldo’s goals have come for Real Madrid (450), Manchester United (118), Juventus (95), and Sporting Lisbon (5) in the club level.

For the Portugal national team, he has scored 102 goals in 170 matches – which is the second-most ever in international football. Only Iran’s Ali Daei has more goals to his name with 109 from 149 games.
