Indian cricket legend Rohit Sharma has posted an Instagram story marking his completion of 18 years in International Cricket after making his debut in 2007.
Widely known as ‘Hitman,’ he celebrated the occasion by sharing a photo of his helmet alongside the caption, “Forever grateful 23.06.07.”
Making his debut on June 23, 2007, against Ireland in an ODI match, he made his legacy, emerging as one of the finest batters of the game. He didn’t get to bat on the match, but got chance three day later during the first ODI of the three match series between India and South Africa at Belfast.
Representing India in international cricket for over nearly two decades, Rohit Sharma has made more than 19,000 international runs across formats and has also led the ‘Men in Blues’ with grace and determination.
Rohit Sharma is known for his elegnant stroke play and ability to score big hundreds. The star batters’ iconic feat remains his world record of 264 runs in 2014 in ODIs, the highest individual score in the format’s history.

He has 11168 runs from 273 ODis including 32 centuries and 58 fifties. He is also the only player to score three double centuries in ODI and has five centuries in T20 World Cup.
Apart from individual performance, Rohit’s leadership has been intriguing chapter in Indian cricket. Havind captained India in all three formats, he brought stability and consistency in white-ball cricket.
Rohit Sharma has guided India to glory in the T20 World Cup 2024 and also lifted the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. India also reached the World Test Championship finals and ODI World Cup finals 2023 underhis captaincy.
Making his retirement in T20Is and Test cricket, he still has some more cricket left inside him even at the age of 38.
Several reports suggest that Rohit Sharma is considering returning to ODI cricket, eyeing a final World Cup appearance in 2027. He is likely to be back in action during India’s ODI series in Bangladesh this August.
