PCB warns PSL players on match-fixing; advises to stay away from four Indiviuals

The Pakistan Cricket Board has shown the images of the individuals who were suspected of match-fixing in the ongoing PSL 2024 edition.

The PSL 9 has gained attention due to the suspicious activity of several individuals and warned other players to stay out of them.

According to reports in Cricket Pakistan, one coach from the Pakistan region, two Indians and one Bangladeshi have been suspected to be involved in match-fixing.

Hence, the players associated with the PSL franchises have been reportedly instructed to avoid any contact and asked to approach immediately if there are any suspicious activities.

The team hotel has not been fully booked by PCB and there is no restriction for the players or associates to meet any person. Despite this, the cricket board has taken several measures to prevent such activities, but cannot stop fans from meeting the players.

PSL-involved players have been instructed to report to the officials if they receive any gift exceeding 25,000 rupees. Players have also been prevented from ordering food outside the hotel.

During the year 2017, PCB made an investigation into match-fixing in the PSL 2017 edition, supported by the International Cricket Council’s Anti-corruption and Security Unit.

The reports revealed many happenings and led to the suspension of several cricketers under the cricket board’s anti-corruption code. It included Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed, Mohammad Irfan, and Shahzaib Hasan.

The first match of the PSL 2024 schedule was played between the Lahore Qalandars and Islamabad United. Four teams have played two matches so far, Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings have played only one match each.

Multan Sultans tops the list of the points table with two victories. Quetta Gladiators named also have two wins but stand second in the table due to run rate. Rile Rossouw was named as captain for the franchise after Sarfaraz Ahmed was removed from captaincy.

Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars will be playing in the seventh match of the PSL 2024 schedule on February 21 at Multan Cricket Stadium.
