Pat Cummins Names the Player he “Wouldn’t want to bowl”

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins names his teammate Abhishek Sharma as the player he wouldn’t like to bowl. In the ongoing IPL season, Abhishek Sharma has put fear in the minds of the bowlers with his aggressive batting attack.

Premier bowler and his captain Pat Cummins is not an exception in the list. Though Abhishek plays for his team in the current IPL season, Cummins’s view in the long term forced him to say this.

Playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, in IPL 2024, the left-hander scored 467 runs in 13 matches at a strike rate of 209.42.

Abhishek Sharma played a key role in their team victory against Punjab Kings yesterday. Sharma scored a crucial 66 of just 28 deliveries and laid a strong foundation for the team after his opening partner Head was dismissed for a golden duck.

His 66 includes five boundaries and 6 maximums. His 235.71 strike rate bagged him the Player of the Match award after SRH chased the target of 215 with five balls remaining.

“He (Abhishek) is amazing. I wouldn’t want to bowl to him. It’s scary as he plays with freedom, not only against pacers but also against spinners,” Pat Cummins said at the post-match presentation.

Sunrisers Hyderabad captain also praised Nitish Reddy who made a crucial 25-ball 37 while batting at No 4.

“Nitish is a class player, matured beyond his age, seems to sum up the game really well, he is perfect for our top-order. It has been great and amazing. I didn’t know many guys coming into this season, but we have played great cricket and had some fun. Great bunch of guys,” Cummins said.

The win kept SRH on course for a top-two finish that will give them an extra opportunity to make the final.

“We have won five out of seven matches here, it has been great and amazing. It’s really satisfying and exciting. I haven’t played in finals before, we are playing some really good cricket, excited for what’s ahead,” Cummins said.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will face Kolkata Knight Riders on May 21 to play the Qualifier 1 of the season at Ahmedabad. The winner of the match will advance to the Final while the loser will have a chance to make it correct.

The loser of Qualifier 1 will face the winner of the Eliminator(RCB vs RR) on May 24 in Chepuk Stadium to play Qualifier 2 which will decide the second team for the final game.
