Pakistan’s interim head coach and selector, Aaqib Javed, has enlisted the help of former teammate Mudassar Nazar to prepare the team for the intense clash against India in the Champions Trophy 2025.
It is reported that Aaqib Javed has invited Mudassar to join the Pakistan team’s nets session in Dubai to share his insights on the playing conditions, particularly any recent changes.
A large crowd gathered outside the ICC Academy in Dubai on Friday as the Pakistan Cricket Team arrived for their first training session since landing a day earlier.
Fans were passionately chanter “Babar, Babar, King Babar,” but the players quickly entered the facility, leaving many disappointed as they rushed inside without acknowledging the enthusiastic supporters.
With limited time to adjust to Dubai’s conditions which differ significantly from those in Pakistan, Friday’s session was crucial ahead of their big match.
While Saturday’s practice would focus on experiencing themselves with the Dubai International Stadium, this session was essential for fine-tuning their preparations.
As the players completed their warm-ups and got ready for training, they were met by a familiar figure.
Former Pakistan cricketer Mudassar Nazar gathered the squad for a team talk before they began practice. Nazar with extensive experience in Dubai’s conditions, has worked with the ICC Academy and coached UAE’s senior and U-19 teams.
His presence was invaluable for what would be Pakistan’s only intense training session before facing India.
The 68 year old who has previously coached Pakistan and held various roles within the cricket board, engaged in individual discussions with players throughout the evening.
While most batters listened attentively to his insights, the bowlers received a motivational talk after completing their batting drills.
Nazar, who has spent years in Dubai, previously worked alongside current Pakistan coach Aaqib Javed who led UAE’s team from 2012 to 2016.
The high intense clash between India-Pakistan Clash is set to be played on February 23 at Dubai International Stadium.
