    New Zealand Secures 5-Wicket Win Against Bangladesh After Rachin’s Valiant Knock

    New Zealand secured a five-wicket win in the Champions Trophy 2025 clash against Bangladesh played on February 24 at Rawalpindi.

    Rachin Ravindra’s century and heroic knock from Tom Latham secured a comfortable victory for the side in their 237-run chase against Bangladesh. New Zealand has qualified for the semi-finals in the Champions Trophy alongside India from Group A.

    Earlier Bangladesh batted first and scored 236 runs in the match. Najmul Shanto and Jaker Ali were the only scorers who helped the side to put up a 200+ score in the board.

    Contributions from Tanzid Hasan, Rishad Hossain helped the side to put 236 runs in their innings. Michael Bracewell who was impressive with the ball picked four wickets while William O’Rourke joined the former to haunt Bangladesh batters picking two wickets.

    Matt Henry and Kyle Jamieson picked one wickets each in the match to help the side to restrict Bangladesh for 236 at Rawalpindi.

    Chasing 236 runs against Bangladesh, New Zealand where they lost three wickets for 72 runs in early overs. After Will Young and Kane Williamson were dismissed cheaply, Ravindra came to bat and forged a dangerous partnership with Devon Conway.

    They forged a 57 run partnership which helped the side to revive from early dismissals. However Mustafizur found the break through breaking Conway’s partnership with Rachin Ravindra.

    Tom Latham came out and joined partnership with the Ravindra to ease the side’s chase. Rachin Ravindra hit his 4th ODI century on 95 deliveries which included 12 fours and a six. Anchoring New Zealand’s innings during their run chase, he also crossed 1000 ODI runs.

    Meanwhile, Tom Latham along with Rachin Ravindra forged a 129-run partnership before being the latter being dismissed by Rishad Hossain.

    The wicketkeeper batter went on to score his 50 to further speed up the side’s victory in the run chase against Bangladesh.

    With cameos from Glenn Phillips (21) and Michael Bracewell (11), New Zealand scored 240 runs with 23 balls to spare.
