The Mumbai Indians women (MI) scored 37 runs in the powerplay during the 121-run chase in the WPL 2025 match against Gujarat Giants on February 19 at Kotambi.
Hayley Matthews who initiated a run chase scored 17 runs before being dismissed by Tanuja Kanwar. Nat Sciver joined Bhatia to lead the side to victory. However, Bhatia was dismissed for 8 runs.
Earlier, Mumbai bowlers led by Hayley Matthews entirely shattered Gujarat’s batting order to restrict them to 120 runs.
After being put to bat first, Gardner’s side crumbled with the dismissal of the top order within the powerplay.

Mooney was the first victim of the Mumbai Indians’ bowling attack while Laura Wolvaardt and Dayalan Hemalatha were dismissed for 4 and 9. Gardner who came back after Wolvaardt’s dismissal also lost her wicket for 10 runs in the last ball of the power play.
Gujarat scored only 28 runs in the powerplay and lost four wickets. Nat Sciver strikes twice picking the wickets of Mooney and Gardner. Meanwhile, Wolvaardt was sent out by Shabnim Ismail while Hemalatha was sent out by Hayley Matthews.
Gujarat’s fifth fall was Deandra Dottin who lost her wicket to Amelia Kerr in the 9th over. However, Harleen Deol and Kashvee Gautam tried to build a partnership to revive the side from early dismissals.
But Kashvee Gautam has been dismissed for 20 runs in 15 deliveries. Hayley Matthews picked her third wicket by dismissing Simran Shaikh for 3 runs.
With the last minute contributions from Tanuja Kanwar and Sayali Satghare, Gujarat posted 120 runs by the end of 20 overs losing all their 10 wickets.
