    Mumbai Indians Beat DC Women by 8 Runs To Clinch Second WPL Title

    Mumbai Indians secured an 8-run victory in the WPL 2025 season finals against Delhi Capitals on March 15 at Brabourne Stadium.

    Mumbai Indians bowler successfully defended their 149 runs in the nail-biting encounter against Delhi Capitals in the summit clash.

    Delhi Capitals went on to lose consecutive finals for the third time. Batting first, Mumbai Indians lost the wickets of openers Yastika Bhatia and Hayley Matthews for 8 and 3 to Marizanne Kapp which reduced their power play score.

    Nat Sciver-Brunt and Harmanpreet joined hands to make an 89-run partnership for the third wicket. Meanwhile, Nat Sciver-Brunt became the first batter to score 1000 WPL runs.

    Harmanpreet kaur slammed 33 ball fifty to stablize the innings but slipped down with dismissal of Nat Sciver.

    However, Nat was sent out by Nallapureddy for 30 runs which created the breakthrough for Delhi Capitals.

    Mumbai Indians went on to lost wickets at regular interval to slip down from 102/2 to 118/6. Jess Jonassen went on to dismiss Amelia Kerr and Sajeevan Sanjana in the next over of Nat Sciver’s dismissal.

    After the dismissals of Kerr and Sanjana, Harmanpreet Kaur lost her wicket to Annabel Sutherland’s delivery after scoring 66 runs.

    With kamalini dismissed for 10 runs by Nallapureddy, Amanjot Kaur and Sanskriti Gupta finished their innings with 149 runs in the board for seven wickets.

    In the pursuit of chasing 149 runs, Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma opened the innings while Shabnim Ismail opened the bowling attack.

    But they were dismissed by Nat Sciver-Brunt and Shabnim Ismail for 13 and 4 runs within powerplay which reduced their score in power play.

    Jess Jonassen and Jemimah Rodrigues came to bat in the powerplay to raise the side’s score to 37 in powerplay. But Jonassen walked back to 13 runs off 15 deliveries before being dismissed by Kerr.

    They lost 6 wickets for 83 runs within the end of 13 overs during their 149-run chase. Mumbai Indians bowlers gained control in the match as they successfully defended Delhi with regular dismissals.

    With Annabel Sutherland dismissed for 2 runs by Saika Ishaque, Kerr went on to dismiss power hitter Jemimah Rodrigues for 30 runs which made Delhi Capitals lose five wickets for 66 runs.

    With Marizanne Kapp aiming to build innings along with Sarah Bryce, the latter was sent out for 5 runs on a run out which made the side tatter with 83/6.

    Maruzanne Kapp played an impressive innings scoring 40 runs for 26 deliveries, but her dismissal by Nat Sciver-Brunt changed the coarse of the innings.

    Nat went on to bag the wicket of Shikha Pandey on the very next over. Hayley Matthews who came to bowl penulitmate over, she bagged the wicket of Minnu Mani for four runs.

    Howver Niki Prasad scored a six in the last ball of the 19th over to keep the match alive. Nat Sciver-Brunt successfully defended 14 runs in the final over to secure the ultimate in the victory.
