    MI Women Beat UP Warriorz by 6 Wickets at Lucknow

    The Mumbai Indians (MI Women) secured a 6-wicket victory in the WPL 2025 clash against UP Warriorz on March 06 at Ekana Cricket Stadium.

    After excelling in the bowling department, they went on to impress with the bat claiming their fourth victory of the season and jumping to second place in the WPL 2025 points table.

    After MI Women decided to bowl first, UP Warriorz made a change in openers which proved to be working, but their middle-order collapse avoided high runs in the scoreboard.

    Batting first, Georgia Voll and Grace Harris opened the innings for UP Warriorz while Shabnim Ismail opened the bowling attack. The Australia duo went on to score 50 in the powerplay.

    With Hayley Matthews providing a crucial breakthrough for Mumbai dismissing Harris for 28 runs in the 8th over, Voll went on to slam her maiden WPL fifty.

    However, Kiran Navgire was sent on duck by Amelia Kerr. With the dismissal of the Voll for 55 runs, UP Warriorz lost three wickets for 90 runs.

     MI Women gained momentum in the match as the dismissed the middle order at regular interval. UP Warriorz went on to lose 6 wickets in the middle overs for 121 runs after finishing strongly in the powerplay.

    UP lost the wickets of Grace Harris, Georgia Voll, Kiran Navgire, Vrinda Dinesh and Chinelle Henry.

    Hayley Matthews picked her second wicket dismissing Shweta Sehrawat for duck while Parunika bagged the wicket of Uma Chetry for 1.

    Bowling the last over, Amelia Kerr bagged the wickets of Deepti Sharma and Sophie Ecclestone to complete her five wicket haul.

    UP Warriorz went on to score 150 runs losing 9 wickets in their 20 over innings. In the pursuit of chasing UPW’s 150 runs, Hayley Matthews and Amelia Kerr opened the innings while Chinelle Henry opened the bowling attack.

    However, Chinelle picked the wicket of Amelia Kerr for 10 runs which made Nat Sciver-Brunt walk in. Mumbai Indians scored 50 runs in the power play for a wicket.

    Matthews’ partnership along with Nat Sciver-Brunt created the momentum MI Women needed to march towards victory.

    She went on to score her second WPL fifty in the match and also went on to stitch a 92-run partnership for the second wicket. Grace Harris picked the wicket of Nat Sciver for 37 runs, but Harmanpreet Kaur joined Matthews to quick the side’s victory.

    After Kranti Goud picked the wicket of Matthews for 68 runs, Kaur lost her wicket for 4 runs. Amanjot Kaur (12) and Yastika Bhatia (10) came to bat and completed their innings with 15 balls to spar.
