Speaking about the match, England won the toss and opted to bowl first. Australia in their 1st inning scored 317 runs for 10 wickets loss while England scored 592 runs for 10 wickets loss.
Zak Crawley missed his second double ton after being dismissed for 189 by Green. While Bairstow missed his 13th test century by just 1 run. In Australia’s second inning, the visitors scored 113 runs for 4 wickets loss at the end of day 3.
When asked about the possibility of rain arriving over the weekend in Manchester, Josh Hazlewood said:Â “I’d be very pleased. It’s obviously a forecast but forecasts can change all the time. Obviously, rain and light plays a big part in cricket and has done forever. So, yeah, it’d be great to lose a few overs here and there, and make our job a little easier if I’m hanging in there.”
While England’s Jonny Bairstow said:Â “Coming in, if there is a bit of weather around, maybe some overheads, you’d like to hope we’re able to create some chances.
