After missing the last test series against New Zealand, Bangladesh senior batter Litton Das has been included in the Bangladesh squad for the Sri Lanka Test series.
Litton Das Returns for Bangladesh Squad
The first test match of the series will be played between March 22 – 26 in Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet. The second test will be played between March 30 – April 3 in Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram.
Apart from Litton Das, Bangladesh have included uncapped pacer Nahid Rana in their 15-member squad for the opening Test of the two-match series against Sri Lanka.
Left-arm spinner Hasan Morad, wicket-keeper batter Nurul Hasan and pacer Hasan Mahmud, who were part of the squad that featured against New Zealand, could not make a cut for the first Test against Sri Lanka.
“We feel that the squad picked for the first Test has a very nice balance. Our Test side is a fairly settled one with Nahid Rana being the only newcomer. Liton (Das) is back after missing the last Test series we played as he was on leave. All the departments have backups and have been well covered. I think we have a team that can adapt to the requirements of the conditions,” National Selection Panel member Abdur Razzak Razzak said in a statement on Monday.
“Rana is a very exciting prospect. He is probably the quickest bowler in Bangladesh at the moment and can also extract steep bounce. Although these are early days for him, his first-class record is quite impressive. There is another young pacer Mushfik Hasan in the squad. This is the right time for these pacers to get the experience as Ebadot (Hossain) is out injured and Taskin (Ahmed) is also not playing Tests at the moment,” he added.
