IND vs NZ 2021: KL Rahul Ruled Out of Test Series, Suryakumar Yadav Replaced

Suryakumar Yadav has been replaced for injured KL Rahul in the upcoming 1st Test match against New Zealand.

The 2 match Test series will kick start from November 25 which is a part of the New Zealand tour of India 2021. Team India successfully whitewashed New Zealand in the 3 matches T20I series under the new skipper Rohit Sharma.

Suryakumar Yadav replaces KL Rahul in India’s Test squad

Team India batsman Mr. KL Rahul has sustained a muscle strain on his left thigh and has been ruled out of the upcoming 2-match Paytm Test series against New Zealand.

He will now undergo rehabilitation at NCA in preparation for the series against South Africa scheduled next month.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Mr. Suryakumar Yadav as KL Rahul’s replacement. 

The first Test between India and New Zealand begins on 25th November 2021 in Kanpur.

The upcoming Test series against New Zealand will be part of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2021-23 cycle. This year, in the month of June, the two teams met each other in the WTC Final (2019-2021), where the Kiwis claimed the title, winning by eight wickets.

It is understood that one of them, Shreyas Iyer or Suryakumar Yadav, will make his Test debut and bat in the middle order. Shubhman was expected to bat in the middle order but now, in the absence of Rahul, the youngster will be asked to play in his usual opening slot.

Virat Kohli will lead the team after joining the squad for the second Test.
