KKR Players leaving IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders with their extraordinary performance become the first team to be qualified for the IPL 2024 playoffs after registering nine victories from 13 matches.
Kolkata Knight Riders made an aggressive start this season and announced their arrival in style with hattrick victories in their first three games. Under Gautam Gambhir’s mentorship, Sunil Narine was promoted to open the inning along with Phil Salt who joined the squad as the replacement player for Jason Roy.
In the 12 innings played by both together, Narine and Salt had posted six 50-plus partnerships for the Knight Riders. The overseason opening duo scored a total of 896 runs from 12 matches where Salt has scored 435 runs at a strike-rate of 182.
Apart from being an aggressive opening batter, the Englishman also played a key role with glove while standing behind the wickets.
In its recent announcement, the England Cricket Board (ECB) asked all the selected players for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad to return in time for the T20 series against Pakistan set to be played between May 22 and 30.
Following the announcement, England players started to leave their respective IPL teams to feature in the team’s T20 World Cup preparation. Phil Salt is the only England World Cup squad player to play for Kolkata Knight Riders in the ongoing IPL 2024 season.

With Phil Salt not available for the remainder of the tournament, KKR will be in search of a new opener who can match the sting of the English batter.
The T20 World Cup 2024 has been scheduled to kickstart on June 1 with the final game on June 29. Though the dates of the IPL 2024 playoff will not collide with the ICC event, the national teams started to recall their T20 World Cup 2024 squad players in order to start their preparation for the tournament.
The Qualifier 1 of the IPL 2024 will be played on May 21 while the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 will be played on May 22 and 24 respectively. The grand final of the tournament will be played on May 26 at Chepauk.
With just 5 days left between the IPL 2024 Final and the start of the T20 World Cup 2024, it will be difficult for the players to participate in the national team’s preparation for the ICC event. Thus the national teams recalled their players for their World Cup preparation.
