    Jasprit Bumrah Removes Afghanistan Openers in Powerplay at Barbados

    Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai during the Super 8s match played on June 20 at Barbados. India is scheduled to play in the 43rd match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Afghanistan at Kensington Oval.

    Jasprit Bumrah bagged the opener’s wickets for 11 and 2 giving a positive bowling attack for India. Meanwhile, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja picked one wicket each to collapse Afghanistan’s batting lineup.

    Coming to the match, India won the toss and opted to bat considering the conditions. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli opened the match while Fazalhaq Farooqi opened the bowling attack.

    In the fifth ball of the third over, the ball goes slightly full and the ball sticks into the surface Rohit Sharma swings across the line and Rashid Khan catches the ball at mid-on. Rishabh Pant forged hands with Virat Kohli to revive India from early dismissal.

    But he was sent out on a lbw for 20 runs by Rashid Khan in the last ball of the seventh over. With Suryakumar coming to bat, Rashid Khan picked the wicket of Virat Kohli for 24 in the 9th over putting pressure against Men in Blues. Kohli was sent out on a full and quick delivery where he struck the ball with force but didn’t get full elevation which went to the hands of Mohammad Nabi.

    By the end of the 10th over, India scored 79 runs losing three wickets. During the 11th over, Rashid Khan picked the wicket of Shivam Dube for 10 runs on a lbw.

    Suryakumar Yadav smashed a fifty before being dismissed by Fazalhaq Farooqi. Hardik Pandya scored 32 runs in 24 deliveries before being dismissed by Naveen ul Haq. By the end of 20 overs, India scored 181 runs losing 8 wickets. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Rashid Khan picked three wickets each.

    With the target of 182 runs, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Hazratullah Zazai opened the innings while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack. With Bumrah dismissing Gurbaz for 11 runs, Axar picked the wicket of Ibrahim Zadran for 8 runs. Guldabin Naib scored 17 runs while Azmatullah Omarzai scored 26 runs. Bumrah picked a three-wicket haul in the match.

    With Najibullah Zadran and Mohammad Nabi’s 19 and 14 runs, Afghanistan crossed the 100-run mark Noor Ahmed scored 12 runs in the death helping the side to score 134 runs in the match. By the end of 20 overs, Afghanistan lost the match by 47 runs losing all 10 wickets.
