Former Pakistan coach Jason Gillespie has blasted the current coach Aaqib Javed for his excuses on Champions Trophy exit and called Javed a clown.

The former test coach has slammed Aaqib Javed after Men in Green failed to advance past group stage matches. He reacted to the coach’s comments at the press conference and blamed the team’s instability and the PCB for the team’s embarrassing exit.

Jason Gillespie took to threads on Instagram to react to Javed’s comments and called him a clown.

The former Australia fast bowler insinuated that it was a little of Javed to blame ‘instability’ when he himself went behind the backs of Gary Kirsten and Gillespie himself to take over the Pakistan team.

“This is hilarious. Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes, campaigning to be coach in all formats. He is a clown,” Gillespie wrote on Threads.

Jason Gillespier had taken the pakistan test and White-ball jobs, respectively but their tenures had ended prematurely.

Garn Kirsten who won the ODI World Cup with India, did not even last until the ICC Champions Trophy after taking over the side just before the 2024 T20 World Cup.

However, Jason Gillespie has stepped down from the role after visiting Australia during Pakistan’s white-ball tour.

Earlier Aaqib Javed has argued that the constant chopping and changing in personnel had failed to give the team any continuity.

“You want to take Pakistan cricket forward, then you need to have consistency and continuity in policies in our cricket, starting from the PCB Chairman to the players…”

“Since last year, see how many captains, coaches, selectors, and board Chairmen have changed. This is never an ideal situation for the team, and it does affect their performances,” said Aaqib Javed.

“In the past, we have always beaten India by taking wickets and applying pressure. This team had the ability to beat India, but the pressure of the match got to them… It is never easy playing against India.”

“It is always a high-pressure game, and it is never easy for new players… I can understand the hurt and frustration at our failure, but we need to understand neither can you judge a player or team on the basis of one or two series. You need to be more consistent and patient,” he added.

Since the 2023 ODI World Cup, Pakistan has already changed coach thrice. Mickey Arthur was replaced by Mohammad Hafeez, who was sacked before the T20 World Cup. Pakistan brought in Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie who were then replaced by Aaqib Javed.

Aaqib Javed’s main goal was to prepare spin-friendly tracks in Pakistan to revive the test form of the side. He was successful in one series against England.

Pakistan are set to travel to New Zealand to play five match T20I series and three match ODI series start on March 16 at Hagley Oval.
