South Australia and Victoria were scheduled to play in the 17th match of the Marsh Cup on February 08 where Victoria won the match by 3 wickets.

While fielding at mid-off position on Thursday’s match at Junction Oval, Hunt suffered a broken nose having been struck in the face while attempting a catch.

The South Australian left the ground bleeding from his nose but was able to walk to receive further medical care from Cricket Australia’s doctor Chris Haskenkam.

He went for scans after he left the field. Tom Rogers who smashed 67 runs in the match was distressed by Henry Hunt’s injury but continues to score 103 runs in partnership with Nic Maddison helping the side to have victory.

After obtaining victory, Victoria tops the list with five victories out of six matches and has the major possibility of reaching the finals of the tournament.

Victoria can secure a spot in the finals if they manage to secure victory against the second-placed South Wales at North Sydney Oval. But their defeat in the match could open the chances for their knockout from the tournament.

Maddison who struggled during the BBL 2023-24 after his return from a broken leg injury had an impressive run in the match against South Australia. He smashed a half-century in the recently completed Sheffield Shield clash against SA.

Fergus O’Neill had a 10-wicket haul during the Shield match against South Australia and scalped three wickets during the Marsh Cup match.

Victoria will be playing against New South Wales in the 19th Marsh Cup match on February 14 at North Sydney Oval, Sydney.
