The Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf has stirred a new controversy taunting Indian fans with a proactive 6-0 gesture near the boundary ropes, a moment which has gone viral on social media.
The hight octane clash between India vs Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2025 played on September 21 at Dubai where India posted a 6-wicket victory.
Haris Rauf acted out the motion of a crashing plane, further fuelling tensions. His gesture of 6-0 is a reference to Pakistan’s unverified and politically charged claims of downing six Indian fighter jets during the Operation Sindoor.
The incident unfolded while Rauf was fielding close to boundary line which is near to the pack of Indian fans at the Stadium.
Fans had been chanting ‘Kohli, Kohli’ to remind him of Virat Kohli‘s iconic straight six in the T20 World Cup 2022.
In response, the 31 year old gestured towareds them with the controversial signal, triggering loud boos from Indian supporters.
In the losing cause, Pakistan’s Haris Rauf picked two wickets for 26 runs in four overs he bowled. His opened his wicket with bagging the wicket of Suryakumar Yadav for a duck and then picked the wicket of Sanju Samson.
Howver, the game was dominated by India during the chase. In the pursuit of chasing 172 run target, Abhishek Sharma (74) and Shubman Gill (47) made a stunning 105 run partnership for the first wicket.
His opening partnership with Gill has put a base for India’s win during the match as Tilak Varma (30*) and Hardik Pandya (7*) sealed the win in 18.5 overs.
Apart from the controversial gesture, Haris Rauf had an heated exchange words with Abhishek Sharma after Gill smashed a crisp boundary forcing umpire Gazi Sohel to step in.
With still possiblities for India and Pakistan meeting in the finals are still alive, it is yet to unfold what remains to happen if the rivals meet in the summit clash of the tournament.
