Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya praised his former IPL franchise – Mumbai Indians for his success in Indian Premier League 2022. Ahead of IPL 2022 Mega Auction, Mumbai Indians released Hardik Pandya who was later named as captain of Gujarat Titans – one of the 2 new IPL teams.
Hardik Pandya Praises Mumbai Indians
Pandya made his IPL debut way back in 2015 and represented Rohit Sharma’s MI for seven seasons. Hardik Pandya led Gujarat Titans becomes the first team to be qualified for the IPL 2022 playoff and moreover leads the IPL 2022 points table with 20 points.
Gujarat Titans’ recent victory came against Chennai Super Kings, who becomes the second team to be knocked out from IPL 2022 after Mumbai Indians.
“You don’t get extra points for finishing early, so it is important to win,” Pandya was quoted as saying after the match.
“(On his captaincy), I did alright because having played in the previous franchise where a lot of responsibility was given to the players. I have enjoyed the responsibility and it has helped me. Doing what we have done in the past has helped,” he stated.
Hardik Pandya Praises Ashish Nehra
The 28-year-old Pandya also heaped praise on Titans head coach Ashish Nehra for his role in the success of the team.
“Ashu pa (Ashish Nehra) and I have very similar mindsets. We connect without saying much. We’ll see if any player requires rest, otherwise, we need to keep the momentum. The core group needs to be intact. If fast bowlers need rest, we’ll rotate otherwise it’ll stay the same,” Pandya added.
Gujarat Titans will face Royal Challengers Bangalore to play their last league match of IPL 2022 in Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on May 19.
