GMR Group, the co-owner of Delhi Capitals and owners of Hampshire, have secured ownership of Hundred franchise Southern Brave, concluding the ECB’s selling process of equity.
GMR was already the majority stakeholder of host county Hampshire, having bought out former owner Rod Bransgrove last year.
The GMR group already had a majority stake in the franchise, as they had purchased the Hampshire County Cricket Club (HCCC) last year, which owns a 51% stake in the Southern Brave.
Southern Brave who play their home games at Hampshire’s Utilita Bowl in The Hundred, is one of the most successful teams.
They won the men’s competition in 2021 by beating Birmingham Phoenix in the final. In 2023, they emerged victorious in the women’s competition.

The Delhi Capitals are yet to win the Indian Premier League. However, the capitals tasted success in the recently concluded ILT20 2025 as the Dubai Capitals won the title after defeating Desert Vipers in the final last week.
In a deal they made last year, GMR Group acquired Hampshire Cricket for INR 450-500 crore. The had gotten hold of 53% stake right then.
If true, GMR will become the second Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise owner to completely acquire a Hundred team. Last week, the Sun Group secured a 100% stake in the Northern Superchargers for 100 millions euros.
Beyond cricket, GMR’s reports portfolio extends to franchises in the Pro Kabaddi League and Ultimate Kho Kho League. The group has also invested in the Seattle Orcas team in Major League Cricket (MLC), USA, further strengthening its footprint in international sports.
