Pakistan star batter Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of Pakistan’s clash against India on 23 February in Dubai. Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman sustained an injury during the Champions Trophy 2025 opening day match at Karachi.
Zaman injured himself while chasing the ball in the very first over of the Champions Trophy 2025 match played against New Zealand in Karachi.
The incident took place during the second delivery of the first inning. Will Young who was at the striker’s end drives it through extra cover while Fakhar Zaman chased it to prevent the boundary.
Unfortunately, while chasing the ball, Fakhar Zaman sustained an injury and walked off the field where Kamran Ghulam took his place in the field. But Zaman returned to bat while chasing 320 runs target and managed to score just 24 runs off 41 balls.
Pakistan lost the game by 60 runs and made a dreadful start in the 2025 Champions Trophy series. With the defeat, Pakistan was pushed to the bottom of the Champions Trophy 2025 points table.
Ahead of their arch-rival game against India on 23 February, PCB has confirmed that Zaman will not travel with the team to Dubai.
“Fakhar Zaman is not traveling with the side to Dubai. The ICC will make further announcement in due course,” PCB said in a statement.

As per a report, Imam-ul-Haq is likely to replace Fakhar Zaman in the Pakistan vs India Champions Trophy 2025 clash in Dubai.
Imam, who was part of the Pakistan Shaheens squad for the Champions Trophy warm-up match against South Africa, scored 98 runs in that game, demonstrating his strong form.
Pakistan lost their first match of the Champions Trophy 2025 played against New Zealand in Karachi on Wednesday and will face India to play their second game of the series on 23 February in Dubai.
