Indian head coach Rahul Dravid says that India’s T20 bowlers need to lift their game in the final overs after they missed the service of Jasprit Bumrah for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022.

Jasprit Bumrah who has been India’s death bowling specialist has been ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2022 after suffering a back injury. Though Indian bowlers restrict the run flow in the first 10 overs, they fail to maintain the same towards the death overs.

Indian cricket team faces a loss in their last T20I match against South Africa after Indian bowlers lose 73 runs in the last 5 overs of the game. Notably, Deepak Chahar gave 24 runs in the 20th over which boosted South Africa’s score to 227 runs at the end of the innings.

“We have to look at how we can get better,” Dravid told reporters after the match.

“Certainly that’s an area that we would like to improve and get better at because margins can be really small in these big tournaments, and every boundary can matter.”

Though India won the series by 2-1, they still need to rectify their problem with the ball. Ahead of T20 World Cup 2022, India has no other series left out to try a new combination of bowlers which might stop the run flow in the death overs.

“Bumrah’s absence is a big loss, he’s been a great player but it happens, it’s an opportunity for someone else to stand up,” Dravid said.

“We have to get reports as to how he is recovering and what’s his status… and we will take a call,” he said.

India will play their first match of the T20 World Cup 2022 against Pakistan on October 23 in Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne.

Notably, in the previous edition of the T20 World Cup, India faces their arch rivalry Pakistan in their first match of the tournament and lost the match by 10 wickets. The defeat haunts the Indian cricket team throughout the tournament and eliminates them in advance.

But in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, India and Pakistan faced two times where each team won a match.
