The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sports Science Head Nitin Patel is set to leave the job after the end of his tenure this month.
As per a report, Patel who was responsible for injured players back to playing standards is currently serving his notice period. Hence BCCI will be looking for a suitable candidate for the position.
It is worth mentioning Nitin Patel was responsible for the rehabs for some of the top players like Jasprit Bumrah, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul and even Mohammed Shami.
Patel currently reports directly to VVS Laxman, the head of the Centre of Excellence was responsible for several important areas, particularly workload management and the rehabilitation of international cricketers.
With his departure unknown, it is reported that he has already submitted his papers. Since joining the NCA/Centre of Excellence in April 2022, he has personally overseen the recovery and management of key international players.

The BCCI created a high-performance centre. It was a dream project of former BCCI secretary Jay Shah and Patel was the vital functionary in the facility.
He is also involved in current rehab of Bumrah. Nitin was the first appointee of the Sports Science Wing. One of his biggest achievements was to get Bumrah and Shreyas Iyer for the 2023 ODI World Cup.
Both underwent timely surgeries in New Zealand and England respectively and their return to the Indian team was managed with remarkable planning and precision.
The campaigners made a crucial roles in India’s nearly successful campaign.
Another feature of the NCA was coordination with the Indian team and then former head-coach Rahul Dravid was full involved in the whole process of injury, workload and rehab management. The reason for his sudden decision to leave the BCCI is unkown.
