The former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has urged Suryakumar Yadav, and Sanju Samson to change the Batting approach after a poor run in the five-match T20I series against England tour of India 2025.
SKY scored only 28 runs in five matches at an average of 5.60, as his outings with the bat in the 5 matches were lacklustre. To be shocked, Suryakumar’s poor run was featured with he was getting out to the same delivery, much like Sanju Samson.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ravichandran said the real problem for SKY has been his batting and not captaincy. The former spinner pointed out that the skipper and Sanju Samson were getting out to the same delivery all the time.

Ashwin feels that Suryakumar needs to give his some time for his batting appproach to find better answers to counter the same delivery.
“The problem though, however, is Suryakumar’s batting. Of course, his captaincy has been really good in this series. His captaincy has been on point, too. But he can allow his batting some much-needed breathing space.”
“Sanju Samson and SKY getting out to the same ball, same field, same shot, same mistake, same dismissal,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’.
“I can understand it happening in 1-2 games, but this is not uncanny anymore. Players should play with freedom, but our batters need to have better answers to the same question,” he added.
Ashwin said that SKY is experience guy, but the former spinner expressed that it was time for the Indian skipper to work on his batting.
“Suryakumar Yadav is a very experienced guy. One could say he was at the forefront of a change of guard of sorts. But it is time he changed his approach to his batting,” said Ashwin.
SKY will now have new time to get back to the drawing board as India get ready for the England ODIs and the Champions Trophy. Meanwhile Suryakumar might make himself available for the Ranji Trophy matches for Mumbai.
