The Uncapped player Aliss Islam has been ruled out of the T20I series on a home tour against Sri Lanka due to a finger injury.

Aliss has been picked up in the squad for the T20I series against Sri Lanka after his impressive performance in the BPL 2024 league.

He caught the attention of the selection committee in the tournament and was known for picking up a hat trick wicket in his very first BPL game for Dhaka Dynamites back in 2019. He also had a unique action while bowling which made him a mystery spinner.

He was then sidelined for his bowling action and injury concerns. He then made a comeback on the ongoing BPL season, picking up 9 wickets in 8 matches with an economy of 7.17.

His impressive season in BPL has earned him a spot in the T20I squad for the Sri Lanka series. However, he was ruled out due to a finger injury he sustained during a driving attempt in a match against Sylhet Sixers in BPL 2024 on February 19.

“His (Alice’s) finger is fractured, and he is unlikely to feature in the T20Is against Sri Lanka,” said Victorian coach Mohammad Salahuddin.

“He (Aliss) will need at least two weeks to recover, so he is not traveling with the team to Sylhet,” confirmed a BCB source.

Meanwhile, SLC announced Sri Lanka squad traveling to Bangladesh on February 29 where Pathum Nissanka had been ruled out and Wanindu Hasaranaga will be sidelined for the first two matches due to his two-match suspension imposed due to his conflict with the onfield umpire on the third T20I match against Afghanistan last month.

The first T20I match will be played on March 04 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
