    Digvesh Singh Ends Silence on BCCI’s Punishment Over ‘Notebook’ Celebration

    After back-to-back warnings from BCCI, Digvesh Rathi has broken his silence on the celebration. He made an impressive performance in the ongoing IPL 2025 season displaying his fearless attitude.

    But the talking point around his ‘notebook’ celebration which saw him being penalised by the BCCI twice this season. However, for the first time since the back-to-back warning by the Indian board, the LSG newbie broke his silence on the celebration.

    Digvesh Rathi made a notebook celebration after dismissing Priyansh Arya was fined 25 per cent of his match fees and received one demerit point for violating the IPL Code of Conduct.

    He made a similar celebration during Naman Dhir’s dismissal in the game against Mumbai Indians and was slapped with a 50% fine on his match fees.

    However, Digvesh Rathi did it once again after dismissing his idol Sunil Narine during Tuesday’s clash. He went with the ‘writing on the grass’ act.

    Amid BCCI’s punishment over his celebration, his brother Sunny asked him about his ‘notebook’ act but warned him not to disrespect any player.

    Sunny said, “I did ask Digvesh about it. He told me it motivates him. I said, ‘Okay, if that helps you play better, fine, but don’t disrespect any player’. He’s not doing it to attract attention. He was not even on social media till recently… wouldn’t even update his WhatsApp status. He would say, ‘what is the point of status update, when you don’t have status’?”

    Digvesh Rathi plays for different clubs before his career took off after being spotted by former India wicketkeeper-batter Vijay Dahiya during a local match. He played for South Delhi Superstarz in DPL, picking 14 wickets last year.

    He was signed by LSG for INR 30 lakh at the IPL 2025 mega auction.

    “He (Digvesh) would get calls from different clubs in Delhi and play for whichever team had a spot open. At one point, I had enrolled him at a reputed academy in Peeragarhi for Rs 2,500 a month but they made him sit on the bench for two years. But once Dahiya saw him at a local match, Digvesh got support. Dahiya called him to train at his Mori Gate academy,” Sunny said.

    Lucknow has secured fifth place in the IPL 2025 Points table, picking four wins out of seven wins in the season so far. Lucknow will play their next game against Rajasthan Royals on April 19 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
