The Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Spinner has been penalised once again and was fined 50 per cent of his match fees after celebrating his wicket in the IPL 2025 by pulling out a notebook in a pretty quirky fashion.
Four days after he was fined 25 per cent of his match fees for the provocative celebration, Rathi’s fine was doubled to 50 per cent for his animated gestures after dismissing MI’s Naman Dhir during LSG’s eventual 12-run win.
He celebrated the wicket of MI batter Naman Dhir and the IPL had mentioned that his action marked his second level 1 violation of Article 2.5 for this season.
“Digvesh Singh, Bowler, Lucknow Super Giants has been fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Mumbai Indians at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Friday.”
“This was his second Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 this season and hence, he has accumulated Two Demerit Points, in addition to One Demerit Point which he accumulated during LSG’s match against Punjab Kings on April 01, 2025,” a statement from the IPL committee read.

That means he’s racked up two demerits points now on top of the one he got during the earlier match against Punjab on April 01, 2025.
The rule states that for these level 1 breaches, the decision from the Match referee is final. Article 2.5 is all about keeping things respectful on the field, meaning players should avoid using any language or actions that might provoke others. But it’s worth noting that it doesn’t stop players from celebrating dismissals in a proper way.
LSG’s captain Rishabh Pant also got a fin for his team for his slow over-rate during the match against MI at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. He’s looking at INR 12 lakh fine because it was their first slow over-rate offence this season under Article 2.22 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
The team had an extra fielder inside the ring during the last over of MI’s chase, which is another infraction related to the over-rate. He did manage to defend 22 runs, marking their second win of the season.
Lucknow Super Giants will play their next match against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 08 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
