The Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower has given an update on Virat Kohli’s finger injury which he suffered in an IPL 2025 match against Gujarat Titans on Wednesday clash.
The incident occured when he tried to stop a boundary on the fifth ball of the 12th over of GT’s run chase. The ball went through his hands at deep mid-wicket as he tried a drive from Sai Sudharsan’s bat.
As the the ball reached the boundary, Kohli looked in discomfort and was immediately attended by the team’s physio. However, he continued to field after receiving treatment. Andy Flower gave an update on Virat Kohli‘s fitness confirmed that the veteran is fine.
“Virat looks fine, he’s okay,” said Flower in the post-match press conference.
With an all-round performance, the Gujarat Titans handed the first defeat of the season to Royal Challengers Bengaluru by beating RCB by eight wickets at their home venue.
“Siraj bowled very well, didn’t he? It is great for him to come here and do that. I thought he bowled an outstanding spell with the new ball. His lines were tight, and the lengths were good. He threatened the stumps a lot,’ Flower said in the post-match press conference.
With Siraj and Sai Kishore’s impressive bowling attack, Gujarat contained RCB for 169 runs. While chasing, the Gujarat Titans made a decent start but failed to lay a strong foundation for the team. Bhuvneshwar in the fifth over, dismissed Gill for 14 runs and made the first breakthrough.
Though GT lost an early wicket, Sai Sudharsan and Buttler started to build a partnership and pushed the team’s score to 105 at the end of 12 overs.
Though Sai Sudharsan dismissed 49 at a crucial stage, Buttler continued the momentum and lead Gujarat to chase down the target in 17.5 overs. With the defeat, RCB slips down to the third spot in the IPL 2025 points table.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru will play their next match against Mumbai Indians on April 07 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.
