IPL 2022 SRH Squad

IPL 2022 SRH Squad: The 2016 IPL trophy winner Sunrisers Hyderabad has gone through a tough phase during the IPL 2021 tournament where they finished the season by holding the last position in the IPL 2021 Points table.

SRH had more internal problems than facing the opponents in the IPL 2021 season. SRH changed their skipper in the middle of the tournament and struggled a lot with their players.

Out of 14 matches league matches, SRH won just 3 games and was disqualified from entering into IPL 2021 playoffs.

SRH IPL 2022 Auction Stats

Updates

  • Rashid Khan is unlikely to be retained by SRH as the Afghan spinner is not willing to be SRH’s second retained player ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction. Notably, the difference between the two positions is INR 4 crore.
  • VVS Laxman has informed Sunrisers Hyderabad of his decision to quit as Mentor of the team.

IPL 2022 SRH Squad: SRH might retain their current skipper Kane Williamson under the foreign player retaining option. But Rashid Khan will be expected to give a tough competition for him to retain his spot in the SRH squad.

New Players signed by SRH for IPL 2022

SRH might target KL Rahul who can be the best opener for the team. He has been the highest run-getter for Punjab Kings for the last three seasons. In the recently concluded edition, he finished as the third-highest run-getter with 626 runs to his name in 13 matches at an average of 62.60

Ben Stokes might be the next player SRH will aim for to rope in IPL 2022 mega Auction. He played only 1 match for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021.

He missed out on the remaining matches due to a finger injury. Ahead of IPL 2022 Auction, he is likely to go out in the auction pool and Sunrisers Hyderabad would be keen to buy his services.

Players retained by SRH in IPL 2022

Not like any other teams, SRH rely on their foreign players the most. If you analyze the IPL 2021 data in close apart from Manish Pandey(India), Kane Williamson and Jonny Bairstow are the only two players to score 200+ runs who were notably the foreign players.

In the all-rounder terms, no player other than Jason Holder(West Indies) has performed well. He picked 16 wickets on playing 8 matches and scored 85 runs with the bat.

In terms of the bowling unit, Rashid Khan is the only player to bag 10+(18) wickets in total in IPL 2021. Apart from the batting unit, SRH has doesn’t have strong batting or all-rounding players from India.

But if we consider the IPL 2020 data, Natarajan and Sandeep Sharma have done brilliant with the ball. Where Natarajan picked 16 wickets of playing 16 matches while Sandeep picks 14 wickets on playing 13 matches.

In IPL 2020, Saha too did well in terms of batting where he scored 214 runs on playing just 4 matches with an SR of 139.86.

This makes SRH to pick the second option of IPL 2022 retaining policy. As per the BCCI rule, a team is set to be allowed to keep up to three Indian and two foreign players with the total number of retentions not exceeding four.

As per the conditions, the team management can either retain three Indian players and one overseas player or two Indian players and two overseas players. As BCCI allows 4 retentions to IPL teams in IPL 2022 mega auction thus there’ll be no RTM card available.

IPL 2022 Retention Sunrisers Hyderabad

Kane Williamson will be the first option for SRH in their IPL 2022 players retention. If SRH decides to build a strong bowling unit with Indian players then Natarajan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be the better options.
