IPL 2022 Mega Auction Date: BCCI decides to host IPL 2022 Mega Auction on February 12 and 13 in Bangalore. Notably, India will play the 3rd ODI against West Indies at Kolkata on February 12.

Right after the inclusion of 2 new IPL teams BCCI decides to hold a mega auction for the IPL 2022 season. As the initiating step of the IPL 2022 mega auction, all 8 existing teams have announced their retained player list for the IPL 2022.

The existing teams were allowed to retain a maximum of 4 players each which can be picked as 2 Indian players with 2 overseas players or 3 Indian players with 1 overseas player.

The 2 new teams were given the benefit of picking 3 players maximum from the released players list. Earlier the 2 new IPL teams have given a deadline of December 25 to announce their players list.

Earlier, a senior BCCI official spill the beans on the BCCI’s planning on the IPL 2022 mega auction.

“Unless the COVID-19 situation worsens, we will have the IPL mega auction in India. The two-day event will be held on February 7 and 8 and like other years, we plan to hold it in Bengaluru. Preparations are underway,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

Earlier the IPL 2022 mega auction is rumoured to be held in the second week of January. But owing to some reasons BCCI have not yet revealed any updates on the event.

Also, the reports suggest that the delay has taken place because of the discussion on the approval status of the CVC Capital Partners who were dragged under controversy after buying the Ahmedabad franchise.

The BCCI gets a whooping 12,690cr (1.7 Billion dollars) from the sale of 2 New IPL Teams.
