Talking about the camaraderie between India and Pakistani players, Akram said it’s only the fans and media which hypes the contest as a battle between two arch-rivals but the reality is quite different from what it seems as both teams have a lot of respect and admiration for each other.

“Sports brings people together, I’ve been saying this all along. Pakistani boys are huge fans of Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni and they would love to spend time with them.

“For these cricketers, India vs Pakistan is only a game. I was excited last night and I’ve moved on, it’s okay. At the end of the day it is only a game, somebody has to win and somebody has to lose. Whoever wins congratulations, bad luck and better luck next time to the losing side.

“Media also adds fuel to the fire, that’s their job, a month before the game they start with their campaigns and ads. That’s the beauty of Indo-Pak cricket, the whole country was up celebrating Pakistan’s win last night, social media was full of praises for the boys in Green.

“We did a show for a couple of hours, we were happy but now I’ve moved on because this is a long haul, its a big tournament,” Akram told India Today.

India and Pakistan lock their horns to play their first Super 12 round match of ICC T20 World Cup 2021 where Pakistan picks to bowl first. Batting at first Indian openers failed to give the expected opening but skipper Virat Kohli with his half-century leads India to post a descent 151 runs target.

But Babar Azam led Pakistan opening batsmen makes a record-breaking opening partnership and crushed Virat Kohli led India by 10 wickets and registered their first victory over India in World Cup tournaments.
