We are going to bowl first. That has been the nature of the competition so far. Expect a bit of dew here as well. Good opportunity to see what Abu Dhabi has to offer.
For us, one of the most important things when you come to a cricket match is to win a cricket match. There’s a lot of different things – mathematical equations and all of that. As a team, we are comfortable in what we want to do and what we decide to do.
Hopefully we can bowl well and see what happens. Injury is good, felt a niggle in my left leg in the last game and I didn’t want to put myself in front of the team and we had guys in the shed as well.
I didn’t want to lose a wicket at that point of time. I had a couple of days off, worked really hard with the physio and we came out to do a job.
We are playing the same team. Keep faith in the guys and let’s see if we can come up trumps. We have not batted well, we get another opportunity here to put it right.

We have played three games here, the conditions have changed a little bit, the wickets have flattened now but we are ready for it. We tried our best. Our batting department hasn’t delivered in this tournament.
If it had clicked, we could have made it to the semis. Unfortunately it didn’t work for us. Kumara is out, Binura Fernando is in. Bigger boundaries and we need to create the angle, Binura creates the angle away from the right-handers.

Sri Lanka needs to set a massive target inorder to stay safe against the 2 times ICC T20 WC championship. As expected Sri Lankan opening builds a descent partnership where they scored 42 runs for their first wicket lose.
Pathum Nissanka scored 51 runs where Asalanka with his 41 balls 68 runs boosts Sri Lanka to score 189 for 3 wickets loss at the end of the 20 overs.

WI needs to chase this in seven overs to get their NRR into a positive area. Gayle and Lewis open the batting attack while Theekshana opens the bowling attack.
Binura Fernando in the second over of the innings dismissed Gayle for 1 run and draws the first blood for Windies. Soon in the same over Lewis got dismissed for 8 runs where pressure builds over the Sri Lankan batting unit.
Nicholas Pooran makes a long stand with Shimron Hetmyer and scored a 30 runs partnership where Chameera breaks the partnership by dismissing Pooran for 46 runs. West Indies lost another star performer and struggles to build a partnership.
Giving a shock West Indies lower-order players including Russell(2), Pollard(0), Holder(8), Bravo(2) got dismissed for single-digit scores. Shimron Hetmyer puts all his effort to drag West Indies to the winning side where Sri Lankan bowlers restrict Hetmyer from making massive shots off the death overs.
With Hetmyer’s struggled unbeaten 81 runs off 54 balls West Indies lost the match by 20 runs and lost their last hope of entering ICC T20 World Cup 2021 semifinals.

It’s always a good thing to have a half-century and a match-winning innings for my country and I’ll look to do the same in future. Before the World Cup, I didn’t play a lot of T20 cricket but I asked the senior players, and I wanted to improve my game everyday with their help.
I’ve waited for 5 years and worked hard to get to the national side, and this is the time I’m getting paid back so it is time to win more matches for my country. I’d like to thank the fans in my country for supporting us through and through.
