    Highest Total in ODI World Cup History: The incident happened during the Sri Lanka vs South Africa group match of the ICC men’s ODI World Cup 2023 in India.

    As per the ODI World Cup 2023 schedule, Sri Lanka and South Africa were scheduled to play the 4th group match of the tournament on October 7 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. South Africa managed to score the Highest Total in the ODI World Cup right after their 3 players scored a century each.

    The centuries were from Quinton de Kock(100 of 84 balls), Rassie van der Dussen(108 of 110 balls) and Aiden Markram(106 off 54 balls). That too Aiden Markram’s 49-ball century becomes the fastest ODI 100s in the ODI World Cup in terms of balls.

    Speaking on the match, Sri Lanka decided to bowl first right after winning the toss. Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma opened the inning for South Africa. Skipper Temba Bavuma lost his wicket for just 8 runs and failed to satisfy the expectations.

    Following his wicket Rassie van der Dussen joined hands with Quinton and made a 204-run partnership and led South Africa to score 214 runs for the second wicket. Matheesha Pathirana broke the partnership by dismissing de Kock for 100 runs in the 30.4 over.

    Following his dismissal, Aiden Markram walked onto the pitch and took control over the Sri Lankan bowlers and smashed boundaries all around the stadium. With his fierce knock, Markram scored his century in just 49 deliveries and led South Africa to score 383 runs before his dismissal.

    David Miller scored a handy 39 runs off 21 deliveries and pushed South Africa to score past 400 runs. At the end of 50 overs, South Africa scored 428 runs for 5 wickets loss at the end of 50 overs.

    With the aggressive attack from the Proteas batters, South Africa registered the highest total in ODI World Cup history.
