T20 World Cup 2021 Updates: The ICC T20 World Cup 2021 is scheduled to kick start from October 23, 2021 with the round 1 matches from October 17, 2021.

T20 World Cup 2021 Updates and News – India is the official hosting country of the ICC T20 WC 2021 but owing to the rapid spread of COVID19 in India BCCI moves the tournament to UAE. Notably, BCCI hosts the IPL 2020 and part of IPL 2021 in the UAE.

The finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will be played on November 14, 2021 in Dubai. Check out the latest ICC T20 World Cup 2021 news and updates below:

T20 World Cup 2021 Updates

  • The ICC from the T20 World Cup will use ‘batter‘ instead of ‘batsman‘ in its playing conditions.
  • DRS will be used for the very first time in an edition of the T20 World Cup this time.
  • The ICC has tweaked the rules for the Semi-Finals and Finals of the T20 World Cup. A team has to play a minimum of 10 overs instead of 5 overs to generate a result.
  • Mahela Jayawardena will be with the Sri Lanka team nearly for 2 weeks during the T20 World Cup 2021.
  • ICC announced the Prize Money of T20 World Cup 2021. According to which the winner of the ICC T20 WC 2021 will bag Rs. 12 crores.

      • Runner-up – 6 cr
      • Semifinalist – 3 cr each
  • ICC extends the deadline for all the teams to submit their final squad for the T20 World Cup till October 15, 2021.  
  • Indian selectors will wait till 15th October to take a call on Hardik Pandya for T20 World Cup.
  • DD Sports will telecast all the India matches, Semi-final, and Final of the T20 World Cup 2021.
  • India is considering the inclusion of Deepak Chahar or Shardul Thakur in Team India’s T20 World Cup squad as Hardik Pandya is not able to bowl.
  • A change has been made in T20 WC 2021 warmup matches of Indian slots. According to which the second practice match will be against South Africa now, not against England.
  • BCCI Secretary Jay Shah says that former Indian skipper MS Dhoni will not take any fees from BCCI to play the role of mentor of the Indian team in the T20 World Cup.
  • The Indian team for the T20 World Cup is likely to announce tomorrow(October 12, 2021).

T20 World Cup Replacements

October 10, 2021, is the deadline for all the teams to submit their final squad for the T20 World Cup. Following are the details of the replacement players of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 along with the updated squad:

England

  • Sam Curran was ruled out of T20 WC 2021 owing to a back injury, where his brother Tom Curran was drafted into England’s squad.
  • Left-arm seamer Reece Topley was added as a travelling reserve for the T20 WC 2021.

Pakistan 

  • Sarfaraz Ahmed and Haider Ali have replaced Azam Khan and Mohammad Hasnain respectively, while Fakhar Zaman, who was originally named as a travel reserve, has swapped places with Khushdil Shah.
  • All-rounder Shoaib Malik replaces batter Sohaib Maqsood in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 squad.

Ireland 

  • Shane Getkate, Graham Kennedy, and Barry McCarthy fails to enter the final 15 member squad.

India

Updates

  • Shardul Thakur replaces Axar Patel in Team India’s 2021 World Cup squad.
