Women’s T20WC 2026 ENG-W vs IRE-W Playing 11: Nat Sciver-Brunt-led England will square off against Gaby Lewis-led Ireland in the 08th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on June 16 at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.
England had a positive start in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a win against Sri Lanka in their opening match. Meanwhile, Ireland suffered a defeat against Scotland and is reeling at the bottom of group B in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 points table.
England women won the toss and opted to bowl. Speaking at the toss, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt said, “We’re gonna have a bowl. I guess we’ve seen quite some really good chases on this ground, and yeah, really excited to get that out there as a team.”
“A little bit, but I think there will be some dew a bit later on, so it sort of balances it out a little bit. Yeah, I suppose a bit of composure under a bit of pressure from being the first game, and everything’s been built up over months and the preparation and everything.”
“So yeah, some great composure shown throughout the match, some really exciting things from different people. It feels amazing (About hosting the WC).”

While asked about today’s England playing 11, Brunt said, “Yeah, I loved it. The atmosphere has been brilliant at every game, and yeah, hopefully we can do that again tonight. We’re unchanged this evening.”
Meanwhile, Ireland captain Gaby Lewis said, “Yeah, we were actually coming and going, what to do first. Came here wanting to bat and then obviously with the rain, was probably erring on the side of a bowl, but I’m happy to be batting. Get a good score on the board and hopefully defend it towards the back end.”
Speaking on the Today Ireland cricket team playing 11, “Ava Canning is out as a precaution, and Louise Little comes into the attack. Yeah, similar all-rounder, offers us some more power towards that lower order, I guess it’s the same in terms of what she brings to the squad. I guess it’s to treat every game like a new day. We’ve seen the results of the tournament so far. If it’s a team’s day, it’s a team’s day. So I think, it’s to park it, move forward, still have four games to play.”
