Legendary captain Kevin Pietersen has returned to the Delhi Capitals as their new mentor for the upcoming IPL 2025 season which is set to start on March 22.
The franchise officially announced the news on social media on February 27, and the 44-year-old will be working with Head Coach Hemang Badani who joined the franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 auction.
Delhi Capitals have gone through a complete change of their coaching structure after parting ways with Ricky Ponting at the end of the IPL 2024 season. Venugopal Rao has been named as Director of Cricket and Munaf Patel has been named as bowling coach.

Pietersen will start his first coaching assignment in the IPL with making his last appearance as the player in the 2016 for Pune Supergiants. Pietersen played for three franchises for five seasons from 2009 that included Delhi franchise and has even captained 17 times.
He captained a full season in 2014, when they finished at the bottom of the table with two wins in 14 games.
He also played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2009 and 2010 before playing for the Capitals in 2012 and 2014. His best season in the IPL came in 2012 in which he scored 305 runs, including a hundred for Delhi.
Kevine Pietersen has reportedly shared a good equation with the co-owners of Delhi Capitals – GMR Group.
In his international career, Kevin Pietersen played 104 tests scoring 8181 runs at an average of 47.28 which included 23 hundreds and 35 fifties.
His ODI career has 136 games scoring 4440 runs with nine hundreds and 25 fifties and 1176 runs in 37 T20Is at an average of 37.93.
Badani was part of their auction process and played a big role in the mega auction last year. However, Delhi Capitals are yet to announce their new captain for the upcoming season.
With Axar Patel, KL Rahul, and Faf du Plessis emerged as potential contender as for the leadership role.
Delhi Capitals will play their first match of the LSG campaign on March 24 at ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium.
