Will Hanuma Vihari Included in SA Test Series: Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik opens up the possibilities of including Hanuma Vihari in the upcoming South Africa test series.
Notably, Vihari was not included in the Indian squad for the home Test series against New Zealand and was sent to South Africa to play for India A team. India beats New Zealand by 1-0 in the recently concluded home.
Will Hanuma Vihari Included in SA Test Series
DK feels that the current Indian team who beats New Zealand and lifts the home series trophy have proved their worth to be in the part of playing 11 in the upcoming test series.
“This whole group of KL Rahul, Rohit, and Mayank will be the three openers, followed by Pujara, Rahane and Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Shubman Gill will be the batters. Don’t know what will happen to Hanuma Vihari. Ideally, he should have been part of the squad, but it is sad that he had to go and play for India A. Are they going to fit him in when he comes back to the squad? Because everyone here has done enough to hold on to their places,” Karthik told Cricbuzz.
“Even the ones getting 30s and 40s, which cannot be undervalued, have looked set on tough wickets. Kanpur and Mumbai were not easy wickets. They applied themselves and played good shots. So where does a Vihari fit in, that’s an important question. Has Shreyas Iyer done enough to come and take over Vihari’s place,” Karthik added.
While playing for India A, Vihari scored 151 runs at a stunning average of 75.50 against South Africa A in the two unofficial Tests.
Karthik said that almost all batters have been performing well enough, so it has to be seen how the Indian team management fits Vihari in the squad. Vihari was part of India’s squad for the England Test tour but did not make it to the playing XI.
