With the Asia Cup 2025 set to begin next month, there has been speculation over India facing Pakistan in the continental tournament. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has cleared the air over the high-stakes clash.
BCCI has taken the issue to the Indian government, where the Ministry of External Affairs said that it’s the Cricket Board’s call.
The match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place on September 14 at Dubai International Stadium. The India Men’s cricket team will travel to the United Arab Emirates next month to take part in the 2025 edition of the Asia Cup 2025.
India last played a T20I match against Pakistan last year during the T20 World Cup 2024. Many fans in India believe that Men in Blues should not play against Pakistan and follow India Champions who boycotted the games against Pakistan in WCL 2025.

According to the chief operating officer of the Emirates Cricket Board Subhan Ahmed, the same situation is unlikely to occur in the Asia Cup.
“We can’t make any guarantees, but comparing the Asia Cup against a private event like the WCL is not a like comparison,” said Subhan Ahmed.
“When decisions to play in the Asia Cup are taken, government permissions are taken in advance. That has definitely been done before arriving at the decision of announcing the schedule for the countries. So hopefully we won’t be in a situation as there was at the WCL,” he added.
In the Asia Cup 2025, India and Pakistan can face each other as three times if they qualify for the final. The Asia Cup is set to begin on September 09 with the first match to be played between Afghanistan and Hong Kong at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
