WICB Announced West Indies ODI Squad for India Series

West Indies Cricket Board have announced their ODI squad for the upcoming India tour of West Indies 2022. India Tour of West Indies compromises of 3 ODI matches followed by a 5 match T20I series scheduled to play between July 22 to August 7.

West Indies ODI Squad for India Series

The India tour of West Indies will kickstart with an ODI match on July 22 in Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, Trinidad. The 8 matches tour will be played across Queen’s Park Oval, Brian Lara Stadium, Warner Park, Basseterre, and Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground.

West Indies ODI squad: Nicholas Pooran (C), Shai Hope (vc), Shamarh Brooks, Keacy Carty, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Gudakesh Motie, Keemo Paul, Rovman Powell, Jayden Seales

“As we all know Jason is one of the leading all-round cricketers in the world and we’re happy to have him back in the team. He will be refreshed, re-energized and ready to go and we can expect to see his brilliance on the field as well as meaningful contributions off the field as well,” West Indies chief selector Desmond Haynes said.

“We had a very challenging three matches against Bangladesh in Guyana so we will be looking to rebound when we face India in the conditions in Trinidad. We have seen some growth among some players, but overall we need to regroup and play better against the Indians,” Haynes said.

From the West Indies side that played against Bangladesh, allrounder Romario Shepherd and pacer Anderson Phillip have been left out of the squad for the India series.

While considering the Indian cricket team, Dhawan will replace Rohit Sharma as the Indian captain for the West Indies ODI series while Rohit will return and will lead the side for the 5 matches T20I series. Virat Kohli and Bumrah have been rested for the entire West Indies series.
