WI vs AUS 1st Test Weather Report: Roston Chase-led West Indies will square off against Pat Cummins-led Australia in the first test of Australia’s tour of West Indies 2025 to be played between June 25 and 29 at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

West Indies and Australia will start their ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle with a three-match Test Series to start from June 25 at Barbados. Australia comes in after losing the finals of the WTC 2023-25 to South Africa at Lord’s.

On the other hand, the West Indies played Test cricket in Pakistan in January 2025, where the series ended in a draw 1-1.

West Indies are set to start a new era under the captaincy of Roston Chase after Kraigg Brathwaite stepped down. Chase makes his return to the scheme of things after more than two years. He last played a Test match for West Indies in March 2023.

Meanwhile, Australia has dropped Marnus Labuschagne from the playing 11 and Steve Smith will miss the 1st Test due to injury he sustained in the WTC finals against South Africa.

WI vs AUS 1st Test Pitch Report

The surface at the Kensington Oval traditionally supports for batting, with teams opting to bowl first after winning the toss because the pitch keeps getting better as the match progresses.

However, it dries out quickly as the match progresses, bringing spinners into play with some grip and uneven bounce. Pacers, on the other hand, need to adjust their lines smartly to exploit the two-paced nature the surface often develops later in the game.
