Why Was Rohit Sharma Excluded from Playing 11 for MI vs KKR Clash?

Rohit Sharma was not included in Mumbai Indians Playing 11 during the IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 03 at Wankhede Stadium.

During a recent development, Mumbai Indians won the toss and chose to bowl in the 11th group stage match of the tournament, where they revealed their playing 11.

Hardik Pandya stated that they would bowl first, considering the batting nature of the pitch conditions at Wankhede. With no options for MI, Rohit has been rested for their fielding while they are likely to open the batting in the second half alongside Ishan Kishan.

Mumbai Indians had a poor start in the IPL 2024 campaign but managed to pull three victories out of 10 matches they played and secured the second-bottom position in the IPL 2024 points table.

On the other hand, Naman Dhir replaced Mohammad Nabi in the playing 11. On speaking about Nabi’s snub, MI Captain Hardik Pandya said,

“We will bowl. It’s always about playing for pride, it looks quite tough for us but at the same time, we want to play good cricket, feels good to be back home. Looks like a good track, it’s a fresh wicket so thought that bowling first would be good. Only one change, Naman Dhir comes in place of Nabi.”
